WHAT IS THE MOOSE LEGION:
Following the founding of the Loyal Order of Moose in 1888, dedicated Moose members searched for new ways to be of greater service to the Order. Therefore, the “Second Degree,” or Moose Legion, was established to provide opportunities for Lodge members to serve the Lodge and fraternity.
More than a century later, the Moose Legion remains a strong and growing arm of the Loyal Order of Moose. It is comprised of thousands of Moose members in every state and province who desire to elevate their service and leadership skills in their Lodge and Moose Legion jurisdiction. It is also a forum for members to direct and lead special programs that support the fraternity’s three basic missions: community service programs, Mooseheart and Moosehaven.
THE MOOSE LEGION VISION:
PERSUADE ALL LODGE MEMBERS TO JOIN THE MOOSE LEGION AND DO SOME GOOD THING FOR SOMEONE EACH DAY.
THE MOOSE LEGION MISSION:
TO HAVE FUN WHILE PROVIDING GREATER SERVICE TO THE MOOSE FRATERNITY.
WHY SHOULD I CONSIDER BECOMING A MOOSE LEGIONNAIRE?: Membership in the Moose Legion will subject you to many new opportunities in your Lodge. Theme parties, sporting events, community service projects, and other unique activities for you and your family. In addition to these programs, you’ll get better acquainted with fellow Lodge members and make new friends throughout the fraternity. Special social activities called Legion Celebrations are scheduled at various lodges within the jurisdiction of your Moose Legion. These Celebrations serve as a means to share ideas and good times with fellow Moose Legionnaires.
Also, leadership skills may be developed through the local Lodge Moose Legion Activities Committee, or, within the Moose Legion jurisdiction.
Plus, membership in the Moose Legion is a prerequisite to becoming a member of the higher Degrees of the Order: The Fellowship Degree of Honor and The Pilgrim Degree of Merit. Earning these advanced Degrees is possible through recognized achievements in the Lodge and Moose Legion.
